Community Partners

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

  • A successful LOSS Team will have many community partnerships with law enforcement, the coroner's office, mental health agencies, and funeral homes. List of Community Partners.
  • Hundreds of people can be impacted by a single suicide loss. Proactively cultivating community partnerships is a prerequisite to effectively supporting all those impacted.
  • You will want law enforcement and/or the coroner's office to contact you when there has been a suicide as often as possible.

HOW TO FORM COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS

  • Forming reliable community partnerships takes a deliberate effort.
  • Make a list of all prospective partners.
  • Meet with prospective partners face to face as often as possible.
  • Sample Community Partner Presentation
  • Include a qualified volunteer who is a suicide loss survivor in meetings. Have them share their story if possible including how they would have benefited from a LOSS Team.

Communities can provide hope to people impacted by a suicide loss.

Suicide is a public health issue that deserves to be responded to in proportion to its impact.
